I hear people whispering and mumbling every night and footsteps too. It's sad enough that I don't have money, but do I really have to live in a haunted house? If I haven't moved from my house, it means a ghost took me, so make sure to come to save me. - All right, don't worry.

Lovely Runner
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Lovely Runner (2024, South Korea)
Directors: Yoon Jong Ho & Kim Tae Yeop
Writer: Lee Shi Eun (based on the novel by Kim Bbang)
Mini-review:
This is one of those rare dramas where I could tell I was in for something truly special from the very first episode. And it delivered on that initial promise until the very end. Somehow, it got better with every episode. You can just tell everyone involved was incredibly passionate about this project. The writing is both riotously funny and heartbreakingly sad; there are few dramas that have made me laugh and cry as much as this one. The directing and the cinematography also keep things dynamic and visually gorgeous. And the acting... Man, Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok give two of the best performances I've seen in a K-drama; their acting is so nuanced and detailed. Plus their chemistry is crazy, seriously off the charts. Lovely Runner has helped me get through these last couple of months, and I will miss it so so much. Do yourself a favor and go watch it, if you haven't already!

MY SWEET MOBSTER
GENRES: Comedy, Romance
SUMMARY: A shy, reformed gangster-turned-CEO and a confident content creator reunite and become the cutest couple ever.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Cupcakes, sausages, animal dances, orphanages, Daddy issues, fluffy cats, professional rivals, romantic players, soccer players, impeccable suits, and earnest redemption.
HOT TAKE: From the interviews I've been reading with Uhm Tae Goo, it seems like he is juts as shy in real life as his role in this drama and I love that for him. A perfect fit!
This show is super corny and super trope-y, but also super progressive and really emphasizes earnest communication when it comes to love and friendship. At face-value it's not the kind of show that I really go for, but its totally worth throwing expectations aside for.
My only gripe is that the last episode was kinda meh, but not meh enough to ruin my time with the rest of it.

Tw: none aside from a mention of blood.
RUN, KEEP RUNNING. DONT LOOK BACK DONT LOOK BACK--
His instincts screamed at him, he couldn't stop now. There was blood trickling down his face, his mouth dry with the tinge of blood as he gasped desperately for air, lungs burning from how long he's been running without a break. He couldn't stop, not now, not until he got away from him.
He knew he should've listened to Felix the first time, shouldn't have so foolishly trusted. But he didn't want to, he thought he could see the good in everyone even when there was none.
He had to keep going, he couldn't afford to stop now or else he'll -- BANG.
His body dropped with a soft thud, The world spun. For a moment, there was nothing but a terrible ringing in his ears before everything went black.
Now it's too late.
The song that Inspired me to write this - Here I come - LSPLASH
This has been sitting in my drafts for way too long 😭

Revenant
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Revenant (2023, South Korea)
Directors: Lee Jung Rim & Kim Jae Hong
Writer: Kim Eun Hee
Mini-review:
I finally got the chance to watch this, and it didn't disappoint at all. I love me a good horror thriller, a genre that's very in rare in the world of k-dramas, and this one ticks all the boxes for me. Sure, it's not super scary or anything, but it does know how to be creepy as hell. And while it was the central mystery that kept me hooked from beginning to end, I also appreciated the way they used individual "cases" to build up the main plot, especially during the first half. On top of that, the show is superbly acted, with Kim Tae Ri being particularly excellent in a sort of dual role. But really, I don't think I have a single complaint. Revenant is truly that good, and I will certainly add it to my favorite dramas list.
P.S. There is a lot of triggering content throughout its twelve episodes, so be careful with that and make sure to check warnings.
